Dish Network Corp. (NASDAQ:DISH) has requested that U.S. regulators pause their consideration of Softbank Corp.’s proposed $20 billion purchase of Sprint Nextel Corp. since Dish is pursuing Sprint partner Clearwire Corp. (NASDAQ:CLWR) Softbank’s bid for Sprint is “unripe for consideration” due to the maneuvering around in regards to Dish’s counteroffer for Clearwire, according to Dish’s statement in a filing at the Federal Communications Commission that was posted on the agency’s website today.

Expectations have dropped regarding Verizon Communications‘ Q4 results during the month leading up to the company’s earnings announcement that is slated for Tuesday, January 22, 2013. The consensus analyst estimate has seen a decline from 59 cents a share 56 cents a share.

The company is the largest provider of communications services that is focused on rural America, and today, it announced that natural gas and electricity will be available in Ohio through FTR Energy Services. Customers should see the same billing and service from their utility service provider but FTR Energy Services will provide clean burning natural gas along with 100 percent green electricity at affordable rates and five percent cash back on their energy supply.
